Intellian’s Iridium Certus® GMDSS Systems
Intellian are developing shipboard GMDSS systems for Iridium customers based on Intellian’s C200 and C700 terminals. As required by SOLAS, all the core components and accessories will be MED approved (Wheelmarked). Intellian’s Iridium Certus GMDSS Systems are part of a wider portfolio of modern, coherently designed, GMDSS equipment including VHF Class A, MF/HF Class A and NAVTEX.

Core components and accessories
The core components of Intellian’s C200M and C700 GMDSS Systems are the Above Deck Unit (ADU), Below Deck Unit (BDU) and the Safety Display Terminal (SDT). In addition, there are a full set of accessories to make installation easier and enable the full range of GMDSS and SSAS (Ship Security Alert System) functionality
Ease of installation
There are a full range of accessories including a Power Supply Unit that seamlessly switches between ship’s power and the battery backup. A Junction Box makes connecting remote GMDSS and SSAS buttons simpler. For retrofits there is a Universal Mounting Bracket that will cover the cut out in the console from the equipment being replaced, if required.
Iridium Safety Display Terminal (SDT)
The SDT has a clean, modern design with a high contrast 7” color LCD touch screen. The intuitive user interface makes it easy to make routine voice calls and access Maritime Safety Information (MSI); but in the event of a distress, it enables quick and easy communication with Rescue Co-Ordination Centers (RCC) and nearby vessels. The SDT includes both automatic and manual dimming (with daytime, dusk and nighttime modes) and a dedicated handset and cradle.
Non-emergency communications
Both the C200M and the C700 will be configured to deliver GMDSS solution as well as providing non-emergency comms. A single terminal could be used to provide SOLAS GMDSS and act as a VSAT companion.
C200M
Iridium Certus C200M Terminals are Intellian’s smallest, lightweight terminal that will fit on any vessel or USV. The Intellian C200M provides IP data speeds of up to 176 kbps (up and down), supports multiple concurrent voice calls.
C700
The Intellian C700 uses a powerful 12 patch phased-array antenna to deliver the highest performing Certus® terminal. The C700 provides IP data speeds of up to 704 Kbps up and 352 Kbps down.
